As we celebrate Labor Day, an annual tribute to the contributions of workers in our society, it is also fitting to honor the hard work of special education advocates. In their roles, these dedicated individuals fight for the rights of children who need special or gifted education, pushing for equity, access, and inclusion for all. Their tireless efforts have paved the way for legislative changes, strengthened the special education community, and made a meaningful difference in countless children’s lives.

The Fight for Inclusive Education

Inclusive education is a fundamental right for all children, but bringing it into reality requires the relentless efforts of many dedicated advocates. As clearly stated by UNICEF, all children should be given the opportunity to learn together in mainstream schools, be they children with disabilities, gifted children, or those from different cultural or linguistic backgrounds. Inclusive education benefits all children, richer or poorer, by promoting understanding, acceptance, and equal opportunities. And to all the parents and caregivers who’ve contributed to this cause in little or big ways, your efforts are equally commendable and deserving of recognition.
